Health Tip on Protein

Too many articles and studies to list but the studies show, like vitamins its always better to get healthy and nutrition from your food not supplements or powders. In short, unless you are an Olympic Athlete or professional athlete there is no reason to increase your protein intake to "help build muscle" the National Academy of Sports Medicine recommends "Protein intake of 1.4 to 2.0 grams per kilogram per day for physically active individuals is not only safe, but also may improve adaptations to exercise training.” (per kg of body weight). But most importantly is how you get it-I'll repeat it till I'm blew in the face that soy lecithin is not the ideal way! Its in everything and like ALL protein powder it is commercially processed and genetically modified with sweeteners and additives (ASPERTAME-READ PREVIOUS POSTS ON HORRIBLE NEW STUDIES OF THAT). Soy Lecithin is a GMO food, has been shown to increase risk of breast cancer, John Hopkins study shows a negative affect on fertility and Soy lecithin may affect immature brain cells leading to impeded brain development ie: the use in early stages of life may lead to behavioral and cerebral abnormalities. And most people will attest to digestive issues which are due to the added chemicals and lactose. Find your protein from food, not only is your body prepared to use it and recognize it, you also reap the benefits of all the other nutrients in that food naturally.
